New things!

Well this last week has been busy! Computers breaking, bicycles needing to be repaired, new job, awards ceremonies… etc etc
With all the busy I am so proud I managed to actually sew a few things!!
I finished another Rapunzel storage tower in light blue.

I made from felt birdies ready for spring/easter in pretty pastel colours. Eventrually the whole heart will be full of them for my craft fair!

And getting ready for my craft fair, I made this adorable toadstool!!

I still have plenty more to work on, including new things so keep an eye out!

Gruffalo Bunting

My nephew is a big Gruffalo fan, for Christmas I made him a cushion and bought the Gruffalo DVD.
So for his birthday I made him a fabric fish windsock, and this Gruffalo bunting!

I made it from felt, the end pieces have the Gruffalo and his mouse friend, and then the middle flags spell out my nephews name “MAX”.

This is all packaged up and on the way to my family in the UK now 🙂

Fishy!!

This week I had lots of new sewing projects!
A dress, this fish windsock, other (top secret) things!!

This fish windsock is for my Nephew because it is his birthday later this month so I needed to get it made and posted to the UK in time!

I made it from fabric so it is only good in the wind and not the rain, but I love the bright summer colours and think it will look so cheerful in their garden!

I like it so much that over the weekend I am going to make a couple more for my etsy shop.

Next week I will show you the other thing I am making for him (it is Gruffalo themed again)!!

Something for the weekend {felt heart purse}

Something I wanted to start this year was a weekly tutorial or recipe post! Well I am 1 month late, but oh well.

Today I am sharing how to make these cute valentine felt heart shaped purses!

They are made in a similar method to my other mini felt purses.
Materials:
o Felt in red, pink etc
o 3″ Zipper, I am still using some I won from Zippit
o Some ribbon for a loop
o Pattern below (you need to open the image in full size to save and print it the right size)

Step 1
Cut out two heart shapes using the pattern from your felt. And cut a 6cm piece of ribbon

Step 2
Pin the straight edge of one of your hearts to the edge of the zipper. You want the joined part of the zipper to be about 1/2 inch away from the point of the heart. Sew along the edge of the heart and zipper

Repeat for the other heart too.

Step 3
If you want to add any decoration to your purse, add it now.

Step 4
Fold your ribbon in half and pin it to the opposite the zipper side of the heart, facing inwards.

Step 5
Fold the felt hearts together, with the zipper seam facing outwards (ribbon facing inside).
Sew around the edge of the heart, starting at one edge of the zipper, right the way around to the other edge.

Step 6
Snip around the curves and turn your purse right way out and give it to someone you love! (with a little sweetie note inside maybe?)
