At the start of 2016 I gave birth to my lovely baby girl. It is true what they say that you don’t understand the full depths of a mothers love until you become one yourself.
My maternity leave is now coming to an end, and while I am excited to get back to designing and creating, I will be doing it part time so that I can take care of my daughter. With those changes I have restructured my work into a better balance, combining my graphic design work from Toastie Studio with my handmade creations from Handmade Cuddles. With the merge I am re-branding under the name ‘Lieve Designs‘.
I am closing this blog, so no new posts or tutorials, but leaving my old content online so you can still view my old tutorials etc. And you are welcome to come join me at my new blog on Lieve Designs where I will be posting more design news, including free printables and tutorials.
Look forward to the future with you all!
Stephanie, Handmade Cuddles
Last weekend was the Diezijn Leuk markt in Groningen. I have been attending at the market for the last two years, and it is always a great day, regardless of the weather!
Was a lovely day, with lots of visitors, including some English speaking ones! (It is always a relief to have an English speaking customer, but my Dutch is getting better too).
I got lots of lovely comments about my Christmas tree, it was definitely worth getting it shipped from the UK (seems Dutch don’t start selling trees until November). And again it amazes me how I fill a 4 meter stand from what I can carry on my bike! (see below my bike all loaded up)
So thank you to everyone who came to visit me! And to everyone who came to the market in general, makes it such a great day!
I love pinboards! I have one next to my desk that I use to pin ideas, recipts, work stuff, notes etc
But pinboards are usually a boring brown colour, the natural colour of cork, or if you are lucky you will find one spray painted white or pink. But I like colour! So I made my own mini pinboards to keep by my computer and loved it so much I made a few more!
I made a few of these pinboards and they are listed in my Etsy shop, and I will be adding a few more fabric options next month!
And what craft pinboards would be complete without cute button pins! They are super easy to make, I took some photos and will post them tomorrow if you want to make your own too.
This years Christmas decorations range is all about sweet treats! I showed a peek of these yummy cupcakes during the Marren markt, but here is some more detailed pics.
I have felt cupcakes with cherries on top, and my colourful candies Christmas decorations. They are all made from the lovely soft wool felt, and because it comes in lots of colours I was able to make lots of different ones in lots of happy colours!
They may not be in your typical colours scheme for Christmas decorations, but I have always been a fan of brightness. I will be making some more “grown up” Christmas decorations later this week, so check back.
Unfortunately because of the size of these Christmas decorations they wont fit in letter post, so I can’t sell them in my etsy shop. But if I have time I would like to make them into a sewing kit so you can make them yourself if you like!
So last week, and all weekend I worked on my puppet.
It was one disaster after another!
I tried 3 different head forms, all of which failed miserably. Either they had lumps and bumps, or puffy out lips etc.
Now finally I have one that is working (the one on the right)! And I only have to finish the hair and the puppet is finished!!
It has been such a challenge making this puppet, but it feels rewarding now that it is nearly all finished.
If you are wondering, the clothes I bought from a chairy store, they cost me €2, which is a lot less than the fabric and time would of cost, and this way you can change his clothes which is also fun!
