This year (like for the past few years) I had a stand at the Diezijn Leuk market in Groningen.
The market is always great fun, you get to meet other creative people, and also interact with your customers.
We were super lucky this year in that the weather was great! It was cool, but not cold and only a little windy now and then. It made all the difference to the day, and you could see that in how many people that came, it was busy all day through and come 5pm (time to pack up) I was exhausted.
So thank you to everyone who came by to visit me on the day. Now it is over I can focus on Christmas orders again!
We moved into our new home back in February and there has been lots of DIY projects going on since with every room needing redecorating etc.
Finally this month I finished my craft room and was able to put all my supplies out nicely and within easy reach again!
I have all my felt and buttons on shelves, with my ribbon out on the rack by my desk. In the other corner I have some storage draws for all the bits and bobs.
I also made a simple inspirational poster that I just printed at home and put in this turquoise frame from ikea.
I still need to do a few finishing touches like setting up my photo area etc, but it is nice to have a little room to put all my stuff.
Last weekend was the Diezijn Leuk markt in Groningen. I have been attending at the market for the last two years, and it is always a great day, regardless of the weather!
Was a lovely day, with lots of visitors, including some English speaking ones! (It is always a relief to have an English speaking customer, but my Dutch is getting better too).
I got lots of lovely comments about my Christmas tree, it was definitely worth getting it shipped from the UK (seems Dutch don’t start selling trees until November). And again it amazes me how I fill a 4 meter stand from what I can carry on my bike! (see below my bike all loaded up)
So thank you to everyone who came to visit me! And to everyone who came to the market in general, makes it such a great day!
This last weekend I wanted to create a few more special items to sell at my pop up shop on the Marren Markt in Leens.
And so this fleece cushion handmade was made!
I used a new fleece I had, and added the word “liefde” which in Dutch means, love or sweet.
It is always a challenge cutting out some a delicate shape from felt by hand, but I love this new cushion and want to make a few more in English for my Etsy shop too!
I also did a lot more sewing this week, trying to make more stock for my pop up shop.
Here are some more rainbow buntings (always love making these!) And I have a few other projects to share later in the week.
So on Monday Juffies shared a link with my on Facebook for a childs daycare that was having a “activity day” on the weekend. They also had a few market stands available and someone had dropped out so they had a space to fill. So in my terrible Dutch I replied all excited to see if I could go and was supper happy when they said yes!! I danced around for the rest of Monday afternoon, until it sunk in that I needed to refresh my stock contents still after the April market *gulp*
So I sewed like crazy all week, made some lovely new items and got there Saturday to have the market.
The day was great, the place is amazing! I haven’t seen anything like it before, there were chickens and rabbits, and an amazing outside playing area, very natural They had plays on, and a “Expedition Robinson” area where the kids were learning to make bows and start fires.
So overal a great day, thank you Villa Petit Paradis Kinderopvang for letting me come!!
